AMC’s Mad Men returns for it’s 5th season March 25th (9pm EST), and its legions of die-hard fans -- who have been forced to endure a nearly year-and-a-half long hiatus since last season’s finale -- are chomping at the bit.
Here’s where last season left us: SCDP had lost its biggest client and was scrambling hard to hold onto its others; layoffs were afoot. Don had proposed to his secretary Megan. Betty and Henry had announced plans to move and presumably plan to take the Draper children with them. Joan was pregnant with Roger’s child. Peggy had just landed a big account.
Though there’s no saying what Matthew Weiner has up his sleeve, safe to say it will be compelling.
Viewing with friends? Get in the spirit and dress with a nod towards the clothing of the era. Banana Republic in conjunction with the show’s costume designer Janie Bryant will be releasing it’s second Mad Men collection which will be available in stores and online March 1st. The work-wear limited edition collection embodies mid to late 1960’s “country club casual” and features solid and graphic floral nip waist dresses, tops with capped sleeves, cardigans, and cropped capris for the ladies and argyle sweater vests, polo shirts and lightweight blazers for men.
Toast your viewing companions and the show with Mad Men-appropriate cocktails. Mix up an Old Fashioned in honor of Don, a vodka martini for Roger, a Tom Collins to pay homage to Joan, and a gimlet for Betty.
Now that you’ve got drink in hand, your only job is to hold on to your seat.
