“Thanksgiving is a time that should feel warm and welcoming for friends and family to gather and dine,” says Feyisola Ogunfemi, owner of Statuesque Events in Springfield, New Jersey. “Candles are a great way to give that cozy feeling, and even complement your food with their scent.”
First, Ogunfemi suggests choosing a color palette that ties everything together, such as burnt orange and brown with gold accents. “You can also use white as a great base color—possibly for the tablecloth or plates—so that there is a break for these bursts of color,” she suggests.
After pinpointing your ideal color scheme, it’s time to choose candles to set the mood. Ogunfemi recommends unscented candles in the dining area “so as not to compete with the aroma of your food,” and pumpkin or cinnamon-scented candles for other areas of your home.
For extra pop, Ogunfemi says a few tall candles at the center of the table display will add just the right touch. Try some classic taper candles in an attractive holder, or go for glam with a dramatic centerpiece. Make candles your new flame this season.
